INTEGRATED RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT AT VILLAGE
SAVARE, DIST PALGHAR, MAHARASHTRA

  • Lions Club of Gokuldham Yashodham, (LCGY) chartered in the year ____  is a part of Lions International, the largest NGO in the world dedicated to service to mankind. LCGY is eager to take up and participate in a new project, a vital service project initiated by Lions District 3231A3, aimed at ensuring the supply of adequate water for agricultural purposes to over 8000 farmers and villagers in 33 padas in Savare and Embure Village of District Palghar, Maharashtra.

  • Background: Despite being located on the banks of the river Vaitarana, which supplies water to Mumbai, these 8000 villagers do not receive water for agriculture except during the monsoon season.

  • Project Proposal: The project proposes the installation of eight 15 HP solar pumps at various locations along the river Vaitarana. These pumps will lift water to a height of over 50 meters, transporting it through pipelines extending 2000 meters in length. This system aims to supply more than 2.00 lakh litres of water per day to farmers from October to June.

Objectives

  • Enhance farming output
  • Enable the cultivation of 2-3 crops annually
  • Reduce dependence on the monsoon
  • Improve the economic status of the farmers significantly
  • Current Progress: One pump, along with solar panels and pipelines, has already been installed with CSR funding. The entire system, executed by KMCT (Kishor Musale Charitable Trust), has commenced water supply.
