In line with our mission to improve health and well-being, District 3231 A3, covering the areas from Bandra to Palghar (the Western and Northern parts of Mumbai), is proud to launch the Preventive Health Screenings Project.
Project Overview
The Preventive Health Screenings Project is a major initiative aimed at impacting over 3 lakh beneficiaries through comprehensive health screening camps. These camps will be organized in schools, colleges, public offices, etc. The project is designed to offer high-speed, high-volume, and high-quality screenings with instant results, ensuring immediate treatment where necessary.
Facilitators
All the Lions Clubs and 14 Leo Clubs within our district are crucial to the success of this project. They will be responsible for mobilizing their club members and local institutions to participate in the screenings.
Screening Programs
Our screening camps will focus on the following health issues:
Anemia (Students & Adults): Early detection of anemia in children can prevent severe health issues and significantly improve their energy levels, cognitive function, and overall growth, positively impacting their development and academic performance. In India, Every Family has an anemic!
Vision Screening (Students & Adults): Identifying vision problems early in children allows for timely correction, which is crucial for their learning and development. Good vision supports better academic performance and overall quality of life, ensuring they reach their full potential. How do you know if the world is blurry to a young child?
Diabetes (Adults only):Screening for diabetes allows for early intervention, preventing serious complications like heart disease and kidney failure, even before any symptoms are present.130 Million people in India are Diabetic, and 180 million are Pre-Diabetic.
Breast Cancer (Female Adults only): Early detection of breast cancer can save lives by identifying the disease at a stage when it is most treatable. Screening helps to catch cancer before symptoms appear, increasing the chances of successful treatment and survival. 1 in 22 women in India are at risk for detection.
Why Preventive Health Screenings Matter
Preventive health screenings are essential for early detection of diseases, which can lead to timely treatment and better health outcomes. In India, the prevalence of diseases such as anemia, diabetes, and cancer is alarmingly high, making these screenings critically important. By offering immediate results and treatment, we save time and money while maximizing the impact on beneficiaries.
